Tips before your spray tan...
Prepping your skin can make all the difference for the perfect result. PLEASE follow the rules!
- Exfoliate and moisturize 24 hours before your spray tan. Paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles and problem dry areas. Use an oil-free body scrub, hand mitt or loofa. STRONGLY suggest the Dermasuri mitt. See below!
- For the entire 24 hours before your spray tan, avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products, oil based products or in-shower moisturizers. These products may act as a barrier against your skin and can prevent the fast acting tanning agents to develop.
- Wax or shave at least 24 hours prior to spray tan. This allows the pores time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to.
- Don't apply moisturizer, perfume, deodorant or makeup on the day of application.
- Plan your mani/pedi 24 hours BEFORE your spray tan to avoid the oils/moisturizers on your skin

You can also find them at Amazon or Target. We don't care where you purchase it, we just want you to USE IT prior to your spray tan.
They are reusable, just toss in the wash! Your skin will feel amazing and most importantly, your tan will LAST longer and will naturally/evenly exfoliate off when the time comes. |
The spray tan appointment...
- An actual spray tan technician applies the spray tan (NOT a booth).
- Arrive with bare skin. Completely clean as products can prevent an even application. This means no makeup, sunscreen, lotion, deodorant, moisturizer or perfume!
- During your spray tan, wear whatever makes you most comfortable! Whether it's a bikini or underwear and a bra, or a swimsuit, the decision is completely up to you! We do provide a disposable thong. Color will transfer so it's best to leave wearing loose fitting/dark clothing after the spray tan. Forgo a bra when leaving and wear loose shoes and no socks. If there is a chance of rain the day of your appointment, bring an umbrella and wear long sleeves to avoid spotting.
- Wear dark loose clothing; tight clothing or underwear/bra may cause marks. Wear loose fitting shoes, no socks.
- Don't skimp on the proivded barrier balm. You will need to apply liberally to your hands, wrists, feet and ankles. Don't forget your nails!
- Stand still. Once you're ready to start the spray tan, stand still, close your eyes and anticipate the cool mist (it's worth it!) Wiggling around can cause streaking and uneven application. We will provide positional direction.
Tips for after your spray tan...
- Quick Rinse - shower lightly in cool-lukewarm water for 45 seconds ONLY after your desired development time (Quick Rinse in 1 HOUR for a very light tan, Quick Rinse in 2 HOURS for a light to medium tan, Quick Rinse in 3 HOURS for medium-dark tan, Quick Rinse in 4+ HOURS for a dark tan). Use plain water; NO shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or loofah during the first 24 hours after your spray tan. Do NOT use hot water during the quick rinse as it stops the development of tan actives during the development time.
- Pat your skin dry with a towel after the shower. Do not rub or scrub your skin.
- After the rinse or if you choose not to rinse, wear loose fitting sweat pants/pajama pants to bed to avoid skin to skin contact (bent legs touching during sleep, etc) while the tan is still developing. This is only important until the first normal shower with soap and water.
- The next day, you may shower normally with use of soap and shampoo.
- You may begin using moisturizer the next day, after your normal shower. Moisturize everyday. If you can moisturize twice a day, your tan will last longer. Moisturizer will allow your tan to fade naturally, rather than in patches.
- After the first normal shower, you may go to the gym.
- Approximately day 5, begin to exfoliate with a soft body polish or loofa on a daily basis to help your tan fade evenly. Soak in a warm bath if you want to speed up the exfoliation process. The spray tan will likely last 5-7 days depending upon proper pre and post care and upon an individual basis.
Please Note:
- Don't be alarmed when the bronzers wash off during the quick rinse and you feel you have little to no color. Your color will continue to darken over the next 8-10 hours. You may also feel streaky or uneven, this is also normal! It will even out after the first full shower the next day when you are able to use soap and gently rub those areas of excess bronzer.
- Don't be alarmed if you forgot not to wear deodorant and your underarms have a "green" tint. This is a chemical reaction and will fade within a day.
- The purpose of the quick rinse is for your convenience. Going to bed feeling sticky, smelly and full of bronzer is for the birds! A rapid tan is a game changer. However, you are welcome to sleep in your tan if you are wanting a very dark tan or just don't care to shower! If you wait to rinse/shower in the morning, you may shower as normal with soap and water.
- Your tan will fade sooner with excessive exfoliation and exposure to drying of skin (excessive hot showers, daily shaving, body scrubs, bar soaps, sun exposure, prolonged time submerged in a pool, ocean, lake, bath, etc). A fresh spray tan won't fade quite as quickly in such elements as a tan thats nearing the end.
- Your spray tan has ZERO SPF, be sure to wear an SPF 30 or higher to protect the DNA of the cells. A "sport" SPF will also help protect your tan as waterproof, creating a barrier of protection.
